Benton County to implement safety measures for election season

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. — The Benton County Auditor’s Office has said that their voting areas will be safe and secure for voters.

Benton County residents, as well as all Washington residents, will be voting for their preferred candidate of choice this August, as the top-selected candidate will be on the November ballot.

Amanda Hatfield, the Benton County Elections Manager, says that ballots were mailed out today, and that voters can trust Benton County with their votes.

“We have implemented a lot of additional security measures in our office leading into the primary and general election cycle,” said Hatfield.

Those additional safety measures include a guarded and secured entry, as well as additional personnel.

The Benton County’s Auditor’s Office will also be conducting a Logics and Accuracy test on their voting system tomorrow, according to Hatfield. The L&A test assures that the voting system of a specific county is working correctly.

These extra safety precautions come as the nation prepares for the 2020 presidential rematch between current president Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump.
