BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, Benton County hosted multiple drives across the county for citizens to come in and register to vote.
Of those locations included the Benton County Auditors Office in Prosser, the Benton County Voting Center in Richland and the Benton County Administration Building in Kennewick.
Ballots will be mailed out starting October 16, and will have spots for the Presidential, state and local elections. Citizens will always have the option to vote on local bonds, levies and laws.
Amanda Hatfield, the Elections Manager with Benton County, says that despite a low voter turnout for the primaries, she anticipates a large crowd for the November elections.
“In 2020, we had about 80% turnout for the presidential election, and we’re anticipating more than that for this election,” says Hatfield.
Hatfield also expressed the importance of voting, saying that it’s important to register and participate, especially in local election decisions. The last day to register to vote is Nov. 16, and you can do it online or in person.
If you do it online… it just takes a couple of minutes. If you fill out a paper form, it just takes less than 5 minutes to fill out everything,” says Hatfield.
