BENTON COUNTY, Wash.-The fire danger forecast for Benton County is now high, which means wildfires are likely.
The Benton County Fire Marshal announced that the fire danger will remain high until further notice on June 17.
Under high fire danger, wildfires are likely and fires in heavy fuel, such as grasses, fields and forests will be difficult to control in windy conditions and mop-up will be required to fully put fires out.
Under high fire danger no outdoor burning of yard debris is allowed within city limits and only recreational fires in legal metal rings in approved areas are allowed, according to Benton County Fire District 1.
Recreational fires should also never be left unattended and water hoses and shovels should be kept nearby.
The latest updates on burning restrictions is available through the Benton Clean Air Agency at 509-783-1304.
