BENTON CITY, Wash.- Benton County Fire District 2 crews responded to an 8 1/2-acre fire on Saturday started by fireworks.
According to BCFD 2, crews responded just after 5 p.m. and found that the firework had sparked brush fires on both sides of a gravel pullout in Benton City. Crews closed the westbound lane near milepost 9.5 and the fire was under control by 6:24 p.m.
BCFD 2 said there were no injuries or property damage caused by the fire. Benton County Fire Districts 1, 3 and 4, as well as Kennewick, Hanford and Richland fire departments helped contain the fire.
