Benton County Corrections Officer released on bail after alleged sexual misconduct

NonStop Local received a probable cause document on Thursday outlining an interview between BCSO detectives and the sexual misconduct victim from Feb. 22.

The victim stated in the interview that the corrections officer called her upstairs to an office on Dec. 20, 2023 where he allegedly pressed up against her in a sexual manner.

The victim was called back to the office by the officer later that evening where more sexual misconduct was performed.

Surveillance video further confirms the two encounters, according to court documents.

Other documents say he was released on $5,000 bail and has a no contact order. He is set to report to court on March 13 at 8:30 a.m.

A Benton County Corrections Officer is being investigated for allegations of sexual misconduct.

According to Benton County, a female inmate reported the alleged misconduct to Corrections staff and the male Officer was placed on administrative leave and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation.

BCSO Detectives arrested the suspect on March 5 on suspicion of Custodial Sexual Misconduct in the 2nd Degree and he was booked into the Franklin County Jail. According to court documents he is scheduled to be arraigned on March 13.

The BCSO’s investigation is ongoing and the results will be submitted to the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office for the consideration of charges when completed, according to a Benton County press release on the incident.

In addition to the criminal investigation, Benton County will conduct an internal investigation to ensure that all departmental policy was followed.
