Ben Franklin Transit seeking input on pricing changes

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – The Ben Franklin Transit is in need of customer input on its newly proposed route pricing changes.

The proposed changes to fares come after a fare study. Customers have until Feb. 8 to provide feedback.

The new fixed route pricing structure will go into effect on June 15 after approval from the BFT Board of Directors and community feedback.

The new structure and price changes for fixed routes include:

Single Fare price lowering to $1 from $1.50 with transfers no longer being included with the ticketReduced Single Fare price lowering to $.50 from $.75Day Pass price being reduced to $3 from $4 for mobile passes only10 Ride Ticket Books being set at $8 instead of ranging from $6 to $25Adult Monthly Passes being reduced to $10 from $25Adding a Yearly Pass for $120

Dial-A-Ride (DAR) pricing is also seeing changes:

Fare for DAR tickets will increase to $2 per ride from $1.50DAR Premium, which goes beyond 3/4 of a mile, will increase to $4 from $3DAR 10 Ride Ticket Books will also increase in price with regular ticket books hitting $16 instead of $12 and premium ticket books reaching $32 instead of $25

Feedback on the proposed fare changes can be submitted on the BFT website through two separate surveys over the next 30 days and can be shared during two virtual open houses on Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 24 at 5 p.m.
