TRI-CITIES, Wash.-A Metro bus driver was killed near the University of Washington in Seattle early on the morning of Dec. 18.
The driver was stabbed and killed shortly before 3 a.m. and there was an altercation between the victim and suspect before the incident, according to KING 5 reporting.
The King County Metro bus did have security cameras and the footage is being reviewed, according to Seattle PD.
SPD is still searching for the suspect, who has been described as a six-foot-one inch tall man in a blue jacket, according to a University of Washington security alert sent out after the stabbing.
The Ben-Franklin Transit issued the following statement in response to the stabbing:
“We are heartbroken to learn of the tragic loss of Shawn Yim, King County Metro Transit coach operator. The safety of our front line transit workers remains our top priority. With the devastating news of this event, we offer our support and condolences to King County Metro and the family of Shawn Yim as they work through this unthinkable loss.”
