Ben Franklin Transit proposes modified Annual Service Plan

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – The Ben Franklin Transit announced proposed revisions to its previously approved 2024 Annual Service Plan and opened a public comment period that will go until June 28.

The plan was initially adopted on Nov. 9, 2023 and was aimed at enhancing BFT’s fixed route service and implementing the new Queensgate Transit Center. It also hoped to adjust routes during peak periods to better serve in the western Public Transportation Benefit Area.

However, BFT staff found that a loss of funds from the possible repeal I-2117, the Climate Commitment Act, may require a reduction of service. Proposed changes include:

Peak service on Route 10 increased to 60 minutes from 30.Sunday extension on Route 123 moved to June 2024.Removal of Route 123s to be reassessed in 2025.Route 50 frequencies on Saturdays increased from 15 minutes to 30.Cancelled alignment extension on Route 67.

An open house is scheduled for June 5 at 3 p.m. and can be attended via Zoom. Public feedback can be submitted to customercomment@bft.org or by calling customer service at 509-735-5100.
