Ben Franklin Transit postpones fixed route fares to 2025

TRI-CITIES, Wash. – The Ben Franklin Transit announced on Wed., June 5, that its new fixed route fare structure has been postponed from a July 1 launch to early 2025.

BFT states that the fare structure’s rollout was postponed to implement a mobile ticketing system.

The new structure featured lowered fare and pass prices along with a new yearly pass. Changes included:

Single Fare price lowering to $1 from $1.50Reduced Single Fare price lowering to $.50 from $.75.Day Pass becoming mobile only and lowering to $3 from $4.10 Ride Ticket Books being set at $8 instead of ranging from $6 to $25.Adult Monthly Passes being reduced to $10 from $25.New mobile-only Yearly Pass added for $120.

“The goals of the proposed changes are to streamline services and enhance accessibility while ensuring affordability and convenience for all community members,” said BFT on its website.
