ZILLAH, Wash.-The Beam Road Fire that has burned about 8,542 acres about six miles Northeast of Zillah has been determined to be human caused.
According to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center, the fire burning in tall grass is about 42 percent contained.
The Beam Road Fire started on the afternoon of Saturday, June 15 and Level 2: Get Set evacuation were in place through the afternoon of June 16 and state resources for the fire were mobilized.
About 100 homes were threatened by the fire, according to the NWICC. Four fire crews totaling about 162 fire personnel are on scene.
According to Yakima Valley Emergency Management, the Level 2 evacuation notices were reduced to a Level 1: Get Ready advisory by 7:30 p.m. on June 16.
Under a Level 1 advisory the community is advised to stay alert and aware of dangers and to have emergency supplies ready in a safe location.
