Bail for man suspected of shooting Yakima teen set at $250k

YAKIMA, Wash.-Bail for the man suspected in a deadly shooting in Yakima on June 24 has been set at $250,000.

According to probable cause documents from Yakima County Superior Court, the 23-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene of the shooting and a 10 mm pistol was recovered.

Landynn Lewis, 17, was shot in the parking lot of Tony’s Pizza and later died from his injuries at the hospital in Seattle.

Lewis was in a black jeep with five others waiting for a pizza when the suspected shooter and another person walked by.

According to the probable cause documents, after the two men walked past the Jeep, Lewis drove around and toward them, and that is when the suspect began shooting at the Jeep.

Witness statements and video footage from Tony’s show that the Jeep did drive quickly toward the suspect and eight 10 mm shell casings were found at the scene.

The suspected shooter claimed he fired in self-defense after the Jeep was headed toward him.

According to court documents, based on the witness accounts and video footage there was probable cause to arrest the suspect on six counts of assault in the first degree.
