TOPPENISH, Wash.-Astria Health is expanding its Behavioral Health Unit at Astria Toppenish Hospital.
A ground breaking ceremony for the Behavioral Health Expansion, that will add 14 new beds to the hospital was held on Tuesday, July 2 at Astria Toppenish Hospital at 502 W. 4th Avenue.
After the expansion ATH will have 29 beds available and will be able to serve 157 psychiatric patients each year in the Washington State Health Care Authority’s civil commitment program, according to Astria Health.
All of the $13.1 million needed for the expansion has been secured, due in part from the support of businesses, local governments, the community and legislators.
“We are sincerely grateful for all the support and attention that has been given to this project,” said Cathy Bambrick, hospital Administrator. “Legislators and our community helped secure the future of Astria Toppenish Hospital.”
Most patients stay 90-180 days in ATH’civil commitment program, which provides patients from across Washington with long-term, inpatient psychiatric care, according to Astria Health.
