OLYMPIA, Wash.-More money will be returned to Washingtonians after another chicken producer reached a settlement with the Attorney General’s Office over a price-fixing case.
Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s Office announced that Raeford Farms will pay $460,000 to resolve legal claims brought against it.
The AG’s Office brought an Antitrust lawsuit against 19 chicken producers in 2021, alleging price-fixing dating back to at least 2008, causing consumers to unknowingly overpay, according to a press release on the Raeford Farms settlement.
According to the AG’s Office all but two of the 19 companies named in the lawsuit have now reached settlements, with the chicken producers and tuna companies combining for $40.6 million in restitution.
Washingtonians whose income is at or below 175% of the federal poverty level, about 402,200 households in the state will be receiving checks, which the AG’s Office began mailing in December.
Residents have six months to complete a claims form to receive their share of the settlement payments. Anyone who believes they qualify, but has not received a check should visit refundcheck.atg.wa.gov.
