WALLA WALLA, Wash.-The annual Return to the River Salmon Festival is set for May 18 on the Walla Walla Community College campus.

The free community event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature family-friendly interactive activities, including displays, obstacle courses, relay races, painting and drawing and water testing experiments, according to WWCC.

Vendors will be on-site, including WWCC’s Wine Country Culinary Institute’s food truck. Parking will be available in the main WWCC lot and the event will be held near the ballfields on Tausick Way.

“This is a great opportunity for people living in the valley to see and learn about the conservation work going on locally, especially related to the reintroduction of salmon to our Basin,” said Drew Trogstad-Isaacson, Interim Director of the Water & Environmental Center.

Salmon fingerling will be released at 12:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. with the help of the Tri-State Steelheaders.
