T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have moved into the next stage of their relationship, thanks in part to Robach’s daughter, Ava.
On Monday’s (September 30) episode of their Catching Up on a Few Things… podcast, the former GMA3 hosts revealed they’ve been living together for the past few weeks. Holmes confessed they had been “cohabitating” after previously going “back and forth” between their New York apartments.
As for why now, Robach said it’s because her daughter Ava was tired of living in a “grungy” apartment infested with roaches due to a squatter and hoarder living next door. After trying and failing to get rid of the insects, Ava convinced her mom to let her and her roommate live at Robach’s apartment.
“I’ve just said, ‘Hey y’all, knock yourselves out. I’ll be at T.J.’s,’” Robach shared.
“This is what you do for your kids. I know you’re excited to be able to help them out, and this is what it’s for,” Holmes added before reiterating that he and Robach have been “living together full time.”
“I’ve enjoyed the time that we’ve had together,” he said. “It’s been a little different, but I’ve liked it… where we know where we’re going to end up every night instead of having a plan.”
Robach later added that Ava is officially moving out of her infested apartment this weekend, meaning she and Holmes “might be living together longer.”
After Robach described their current living situation as a “trial run,” Holmes joked that he was trying to find “something wrong” with the arrangement, but he struggled to pick faults.
While they both agreed that their apartment is “too cold” and “too hot,” Holmes added, “Other than that, we’ve been good.”

Robach and Holmes were fired from ABC News in January 2023 following the public disclosure of their romantic relationship. The couple later shared they were both in the middle of divorces with their respective partners when they started their relationship.
Back in May, the couple talked about potential marriage plans on their Amy and T.J. Podcast.
“Interestingly, now, with the choice totally in front of us to get married or not for us, we’re kind of on the fence and laughing about it because it doesn’t matter because we know we want to be with each other,” Robach said. “We want to marry each other. We don’t have to necessarily get married because of what that represents. It’s almost for everyone else and not for you.”
