SEATTLE, Wash.-Alaska Airlines fleet now includes a Boeing 737-8 as part of an ongoing plan of expansion.
Alaska announced the addition of the longer-range jet to its fleet on Jan. 4. and plans to add seven more 737-8’s throughout 2024.
“The addition of the 737-8 and eventually the 737-10 to our fleet creates new opportunities for us to fly longer nonstop routes and maximize our revenue potential,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances at Alaska Airlines.
The addition of the 737-8’s to its lineup will allow Alaska to fly longer routes, including one from Anchorage to New York starting in June.
Longer, nonstop flights are part of Alaska’s emphasis on growth, with the airline planning to add 15-25 Boeing aircraft each year from 2024 through 2027, according to a press release on the first 737-8.
