Tactical radio-controlled technology will help College Place PD fight crime

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash.-A new tactical radio-controlled car/robot will be help College Place Police gather information while keeping officers safe.

The College Place PD was awarded a Local Heroes Grant from Gesa Credit Union that helped the department get the new crime fighting technology.

According to the College Place PD, the small, compact, durable and deployable R/C will gather intelligence and information and help officers get a visual of a potentially dangerous situations while reducing the risk to officers and the public.

The new technology could also potentially be shared with regional SWAT and crisis negotiation teams, according to a CPPD social media post.

Gesa Credit Union’s Local Heroes Grants are awarded to organizations that help heroes, including firefighters, healthcare workers, law enforcement, teachers and veterans, across Washington.
