LIBBY, Mont. – A disturbance south of Libby on Friday night resulted in the death of a man, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
On November 22, at approximately 8:22 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a gunshot and screaming near Frazey Loop.
Deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Libby Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from severe bleeding.
Medical aid was administered, and the man was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The sheriff’s release said he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
All people involved in the incident were detained and taken to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies secured the scene, and detectives arrived to interview witnesses and suspects and to process the scene.
The initial investigation, based on statements from the victim and witnesses, as well as evidence from the scene, suggests that the injuries inflicted upon the man who died were in self-defense, the sheriff’s release said.
