GREAT FALLS – Cascade County witnessed an extraordinary level of voter engagement as residents lined up for hours to cast their votes in the recent election.
Election officials worked late into the morning at Expo Park. Joee Taylor reported leaving around 12:45 a.m., with the last few people still casting their votes. Preliminary results are now available.
In the closely watched race for Cascade County Commissioner, Democratic candidate Don Ryan is trailing Republican candidate Eric Hinebauch. Ryan has earned just under 14,000 votes, while Hinebauch leads with just over 20,000 votes.

The retention races for three 8th Judicial District judges have seen overwhelming support from voters. Elizabeth Best, John Kutzman, and David Grubich each received over 22,000 votes supporting them for another term.
Best – 25,603 Yes and 8,415 NoKutzman – 27,021 Yes and 5,981 NoGrubich – 28,586 Yes and 5,005 No
In federal races, Cascade County has leaned toward the Republican candidates.

Votes will not be final until the County Canvass Board certifies the results. The canvass is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on November 18.
