Columbia School District goes into working lockdowns after years-old social media threat resurfaces

BURBANK, Wash.-Schools in the Columbia School District were placed under working lockdowns on Oct. 7 due to a concerning social media post that was ultimately determined to be several years old.

A community member reportedly brought the post to the attention of the district and schools went into working lockdowns as a precaution, according to the CSD.

The incident was thoroughly reviewed and the concerning post was determined to have been from several years ago and posed no threat.

The CSD released a statement on the situation which read in part:

“At Columbia School District, student and staff safety is always our top priority, and we will continue to act out of an abundance of caution in situations like this. We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to maintain a secure environment for our school community.”
