WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Thousands of Pacific Power customers were without power in Walla Walla due to loss of transmission on Wednesday.
A total of 7,358 customers were without power, according to Pacific Power’s Outage Map, though all but two customers have had their power restored as of 4:15 p.m.
Residents were asked to use caution at intersections as some traffic lights were out and should be treated as four-way stops.
The outages were first reported around 9:10 a.m. and utility crews have been notified and are responding, according to the utility.
The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health posted some guidelines to consider to keep perishable foods safe:
According to WWCDCH, residents should keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed and should consider moving perishable foods to a cooler with ice after four hours without power.
“When in doubt, throw it out” is a good general rule to follow regarding whether or not food has spoiled, according to WWCDCH.
