YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.-A wildfire that burned several cars and about 315 acres of land in Yakima County east of Yakima near the Yakima Training Center on Aug. 19 is now out.
The East Valley Fire Department responded to the fire on the 1800 block of Bohoskey Drive around 2:30 p.m.
The fire was burning about 25 acres when fire crews arrived and was moving up a hill, according to an EVFD press release.
Level 3 (GO NOW) and level 2 (BE SET) evacuations were in place in the area, but were dropped as of 5:51 p.m., according to Yakima Valley Emergency Management.
Fire crews from East Valley, the Department of Natural Resources, Yakima, the Yakima Training Center, Selah, West Valley, Highland, Gleed and Naches all responded to the fire.
The fire grew to an estimated 315 acres and was put out after about five hours, according to EVFD
The fire is believed to have been sparked by metal works in the area, according to EVFD’s press release on the blaze.
