HEART BUTTE, Mont. – A teenager died after a rollover crash on BIA Route 1 near Heart Butte in Pondera County on Monday.
According to the fatal crash report from Montana Highway Patrol, a car was going north on BIA Route 1, came to a righthand curve and crossed into the southbound lane. MHP said the driver was speeding, which led to the car swerving off the road to the left and hitting a delineator post.
The car continued to spin clockwise and one of the tires dug into soft dirt on the shoulder, causing the car to roll over twice.
A 19-year-old male passenger, from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, died in the crash.
The driver and two other passengers, all from Spokane, Washington, became injured.
