YAKIMA, Wash. – Keys Dike fire at Yakima Sportsman State Park will continue to burn for a few days, according to Yakima Suncomm.

Fire crews responded to the fire on Keys Road late Wednesday night and returned on Tuesday, July 4. According to a Yakima Valley Emergency Management Facebook post, the 25-acre fire did not threaten homes, but Sportsman State Park was closed to the public.

According to Ryan Rodruck, Communication Manager with Washington State Department of Natural Resources, the fire is in mop up but will continue to burn as crews remain on scene to monitor the situation. The name of this fire was official named “Keys Dike” fire and is unrelated to the Keys Fire in the same area last June.

Images from Legends Casino Tower Camera showed smoke in the surrounding area.

According to Yakima Valley Emergency Management, there are no evacuation notices for the fire.

This is the second fire Yakima fire crews respond to in that area. A 21-acre fire prompted Level 3 (GO NOW) evacuations on June 21.

This is a developing story, which means information could change. We are working to report timely and accurate information as we get it.
