TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Benton County Fire District 1 is hosting its yearly Tri-City Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ride on the Fourth of July in honor of fallen firefighters across the Tri-Cities.
The event happens every year on July 4, the anniversary of the death of firefighter Paul Bjorklund. Bjorklund died in an accident while fighting a fire on the Jump Off Joe Butte in 1992.
Since then, more fallen Tri-City firefighters have been added to be honored in the motorcycle ride, which goes from Kennewick to College Place then south through Milton-Freewater to Bjorklund’s grave in Athena, Oregon.
The event starts at 7:30 a.m. at Kennewick Fire Department Station 61. Riders, non-riders, families and friends are invited.
