WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Thousands of rubber ducks will released into Mill Creek in Walla Walla on May 18 as part of the 27th annual Community Bank Ducky Derby.
The event, held by the Exchange Club of Walla Walla, raises money for child abuse prevention and youth programs in the Walla Walla Valley.
A number will be attached to each duck that will match the number on its adoptee’s adoption paper. The owners of each duck that finished first will win prizes.
Along with the yearly Ducky Derby, a 5k Duck Dash and one mile Waddle Fun Run is planned. The runs start at 8:30 a.m. with on-site registration scheduled to start a half hour earlier and tickets going for $15 until May 10 when they will increase to $25.
The Ducky Derby starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.
