RICHLAND, Wash. – A driver in Richland was arrested for driving under the influence after driving into an irrigation canal on Monday, according to the Richland Police Department.
RPD says officers were called to the intersection of North Steptoe Street and Tapteal Drive at 6 p.m. to a single vehicle collision.
Officers found a pickup truck partially submerged in the canal with the driver stuck inside. Richland Fire arrived and helped the driver out of the truck.
Witnesses say the truck was being driven aggressively before the crash and that the driver reportedly threw a liquor bottle into the canal before officers arrived.
RPD says the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence. A tow company removed the truck from the canal afterwards.
