TRI-CITIES, Wash. – Over 100 cars from multiple types of racing are coming to the Tri-Cities to race in the 55th Annual Apple Cup race at the Tri-City Raceway on April 6 and 7.

To claim the trophy, racers must push through “the fastest half-mile tri-oval racetrack,” which is not easy. Part of the challenge is the kind of track while another part is the weather.

“It’s fast, it’s abrasive,” said driver Dylan Lupton. “It’s almost like they should name this place, the tricky triangle. Honestly, it’s definitely going to be a fun race.”

The Apple Cup returned to the Tri-City Raceway in 2022 following the closure of the track in Yakima.

West Richland Mayor Brent Gerry says that the race not only benefits race fans, but also the rest of the area.

“This is a great opportunity for an economic sprinkler in the Tri-City area,” said Gerry. “Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent filling up motels, hotels, restaurants. It’s just a great opportunity to see this facility as an event center bring back vitality.”

Tickets for both days of the Apple Cup can be purchased online.
