WAPATO, Wash. – A fire in Wapato destroyed two garages and two cars Monday afternoon, according to Wapato Fire Department Chief Bob Clark.
Fire crews were called to the 800 block of South Yakima Avenue at 5:47 p.m. Crews found a fire that started in the garage of the home that had spread to the neighbor’s garage.
WFD, the Yakima Fire Department, Toppenish Fire Department and Yakima County Fire District 5 worked to control the fire by 6:20 p.m.
Both garages and two cars in the neighbor’s garage were destroyed by the fire, according to Clark.
The cause of the fire and the cost of the damages is still unknown. An investigation by WFD and Yakima County Fire Marshals is ongoing.
