SELAH, Wash. – The Selah Fire Department invites the community to Selah Station 21 for a push-in ceremony for its new aerial apparatus on Wed., March 27.
The event starts at 7 p.m. for the community to meet and talk with the department while the ceremony starts at 7:30 p.m.
The push-in ceremony tradition started in the 1800s where crews had to detach horses from horse-drawn equipment to push the equipment into the bay. Despite the need for pushing equipment no longer being necessary, its legacy was secured.
Truck 21 will be the next apparatus introduced with a push-in ceremony. Selah Station 21 is located at 206 W. Fremont Ave.
