FINLEY, Wash. – A pasture owner in Finley lost control of a controlled burn in Finley on Friday, causing over half an acre of their property to burn, per Benton County Fire District 1.
The fire was on the 205000 block of East Tenth Avenue. BCFD1 responded at 2:40 p.m. to the fire which was controlled by 3:20 p.m.
No structures were threatened according to BCFD1. Crews are still at the fire’s location mopping up hot spots.
“Like gremlins, what may start as a lovely, well-behaved little burn pile can quickly turn into destructive, uncontrollable monsters,” said BCFD1 in a Facebook post. “In the case of a natural cover fire, however, it is highly recommended that you get them wet. But if it does get out of control, call 911 right away.”
