RICHLAND, Wash. – UPDATE 3:01 p.m.
According to the City of Richland, the water leak on Keene Road was caused by a failing air relief valve.
The problem was temporarily fixed and will be permanently fixed in the spring. The hole dug by crews is being refilled and the road will be reopened later today.

A stretch of Keene Road near the I-182 overpass is closed as emergency crews respond to a water main break.
Keene Rd from Jericho Road to Duportail Street is currently closed in both directions while the Richland Water Department works to repair the break, according to a social media post from Richland Police.
The water main break is in the area of the I-182 Overpass on Keene Rd. I-182 is still open, however, one westbound lane is flooded and muddied near the overpass, according to RPD.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
