YAKAMA NATION, Wash.- The American Rescue Plan Act is allowing the Yakama Nation Tribal Council to distribute $500 to every enrolled member.
Citing the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the nation is celebrating the community’s unbroken spirit through the hardships.
“As you utilize these funds, we encourage you to prioritize your needs, whether it be catching up on essential bills, securing firewood and fuel to keep your homes warm, ensuring access to nutritious meals, or addressing any unexpected expenses that have arisen,” reads a letter signed off by Yakama Nation Chairman Gerald Lewis, Vice-Chairman George Meninick Sr. and Executive Secretary Charlene Tillequots.
The letter says the Tribal Council hopes the money can help on the path to recovery still following the pandemic.
