OLYMPIA, Wash.- Washington and Oregon Fishery managers are seeking nominations to fill positions on a Columbia River Fishing advisory group.
The WDFW and ODFW are currently accepting applications and nominations to fill three-year terms on the Columbia River Commercial Fishing Advisory Group and the Columbia River Recreational Fishing Advisory Group.
The nomination and application period ends Nov. 3.
The advisory term will begin in January of 2024 and end in December of 2026.
The two advisory groups will meet between two and four times a year to develop fishing recommendations for salmon steelhead sturgeon and smelt fisheries.
The recreational advisory group will focus on recreational fisheries in Washington and Oregon from Buoy 10 upstream to Highway 395 in Pasco.
The commercial advisory group will focus on the lower Columbia River commercial fisheries.
“These advisory groups provide an important connection between the public and the states of Washington and Oregon in order to provide fishing opportunities,” said Ryan Lothrop, the WDFW Columbia River fishery manager.
Up to 20 applicants from Washington and Oregon will be chosen.
Advisors will be selected based on their willingness to engage in the management process and their fishery experience. Geographic representation and ability to communicate will also be considered.
Individuals can nominate or self-apply. If selected you will be expected to serve the full term.
All applications or nominations should include a resume that includes the following:
Basic information such as name phone number address and e-mail address. A description of which Columbia River Basin fisheries the individual participates in. The reason the individual would like to serve as a member A description of how the individual will communicate information to others And any affiliations to fishery-related organizations.
