TWISP, Wash. — Okanogan County Search and Rescue found one dead after a plane crashed in a rugged hillside southeast of Twisp yesterday.
On Oct. 1 around 10:30 a.m., the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a plane crash south of Finley Canyon into a hill near Twisp.
Search and Rescue contacted a pilot from the Twisp Municipal Airport who knew the area around the crash site.
Along with Search and Rescue crews, Aeromethow, local fire and US forest service law enforcement crews also responded to Finley Canyon. One Search and Rescue team member left on foot to the ridge to evaluate the crash.
As Life Flight was requested to the location, they determined that the pilot of the plane was dead on scene.
Okanogan County Search and Rescue, Aeromethow, Twisp Fire, and the Okanogan County Coroner were transported to the location of the crash to recover the pilot.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, additional information will be released later in the week.
