DETROIT, Mich.-Hundreds of thousands of pounds of beef products have been recalled over possible E. Coli contamination.
According to NBC News, 167,000 pounds of both fresh and frozen beef products from Wolverine Packing Company, a distributor in Detroit have been recalled after being linked to reported illnesses.
As of Nov. 20 at least 15 people have been sickened in the outbreak, with symptoms showing up between Nov. 2 and Nov. 10, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The products from Wolverine were shipped across the country, leading health officials to believe that they may already be in fridges or freezers.
The affected products have a “use by” date of Nov. 14, and the frozen ones have a “use by” date of Oct. 22, according to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Health.
According to FSIS, the meat contains a strain of bacteria called E. coli O157:H7, the same strain linked to McDonald’s quarter pounders in Oct.
